Located a mere 4 km from Ubud Monkey Forest, this extravagant retreat with a character, built on the banks of the Wos river, has a priceless view over the surrounding natural scenery. This unique Zen resort is for people that are looking for something different, NOT another standard hotel.

Built by an eccentric and well-travelled Japanese man, the Michi Retreat is special and the many room types reflect this with their individual layout. All 21 spacious rooms have there own unique decoration, an eclectic mix of many styles and combinations rarely seen elsewhere. They are spread out over several separate buildings around the retreat, each with a nice terrace and AC.

Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, our guests can take a stroll along the river or use one of the many spaces, ideal for yoga or meditation, overlooking waterfalls, rapids and stunning rice terraces. Make a ride on a bicycle through the village and the surrounding rice paddies or enjoy a soothing massage in our spa near the river.

The retreat features a meditation hall and a large yoga studio, an outdoor swimming pool and jaccuzzi. Free Wi Fi throughout the property. The restaurant serves a mix of International and Indonesian cuisine and also a wide selection of healthy detox drinks and vegetarian food. Cooking classes are also available.

Ubud Information

A haven for artists and craftsmen, Ubud has a spectacular hillside setting which overlooks lush rice paddies. Art galleries, craft shops, museums, excellent restaurants and museums add to ambiance of this creative centre. Ubud is also a good base for adventure tours like white water rafting on the Ayung river.

Ubud is easy to walk around with hotels clustered mostly in the centre and others located on the outskirts at Tjampuhan Village (15 mins walk from the centre) and Penestanan Village (10 mins. walk.) Some hotels overlook the stunning Ayung river gorge, about 30 minutes drive from the centre of Ubud.
