Padang Matsirat Information

Padang Matsirat is a quiet and peaceful location in Langkawi's green and peaceful interior and originally a series of padi fields. Padang Masirat was originally the name of the padi fields which were set on fire by villagers when they were attacked by the Siamese in 1821. Occurring soon after Mahsuri's death, this was the first indication that Mahsuri's curse was coming to pass. What's intriguing is that visitors can still find burnt rice grains on the ground two hundred years after the incident occurred.
