Geylang - Joo Chiat Information
Geylang contains a vast array of Singaporean delicacies, such as unique local Wonton noodle dishes, secreted away among the side streets. Mainly a Malay Chinese area and featuring classic architecture, there is also a lovely mosque and an agreeable Indian presence. Mid-range and dependable accommodation is the order of the day here – you will have no trouble finding clean and good lodgings. An area abundant with old shophouses dating back to the early 1900s, it is a rare corner of Singapore which is scheduled for redevelopment. The area also hosts several famed local eateries. Also lined with interesting shophouse, neighbouring Joo Chiat is a great place to explore because of its fascinating history.
