Jonkers St Information

Once prominent for its antique stores, Jonker Street has evolved over the years and now plays host to a series of good dining venues and cultural-style boutiques. Yet it’s the Friday and Saturday night Jonker Walk Night Market that has made the avenue famous; a lively bazaar of hawker food stalls and tourist-friendly trinket booths, this pasar malam (night market) is different from regular markets due to its relatively large-scale offerings as well as some of the tastiest fare in Malacca. Hotels in this area are mainly boutique affairs that are well worth the price you pay – the three-star Hotel Puri, a beautifully-restored Peranakan manor, deserves top billing but if you’re looking for something a little more modern, try the Jonker Boutique Hotel.
